A Vortex Is A What?
First, let me be clear about something. I’m not talking about a vortex in the same way that a scientist would. There they would refer mainly to fluids and the way they spin. That’s not going to happen here! Here we’re talking about a vortex as a more spiritual thing. Something which can’t be seen but which can you can detect. Either you would use dowsing or just be aware of the new sensations in your body when you are inside one. If it’s not science, what is it?If you hear people (let’s call them New Agers, for want of any better name), talking about one of these things, they are usually talking about spirals of energy coming into or going out from the earth. One of the best known places for experiencing them is Sedona in Arizona. There are many of them there. In fact, you can even get a map of them! The picture above is of Bell Rock, site of one of the stronger vortices there. So energy is moving in the earth. It always is and always will. There are places, however, where that energy leaves the earth and places where it comes back in again. Such places form a vortex. (The word for more than one is ‘vortices’, or you can also use ‘vortexes’.) What’s the point of them?Ah! Glad you asked! Good question! There’s no definite answer to this one, although there are, of course, various ideas floating around. Some say that it is for taking the ‘dirty’ energy out of the earth and helping to cleanse it. Others say that it where the cosmos ‘talks’ to the earth. Still others say that it is a place where multi-dimensional energies exist. In other words, take your choice of answers! Most people agree that the energies there can enhance your own psychic powers, your intuition. People have reported having energy boosts there, as well as having some very strange visions and experiences in general. If you were to ask me...I’d say that there are definitely some places on the earth which feel different. They feel invigorating and good to stay for a while in. However, I wouldn’t want to live there. It would be like living in a cathedral! You CAN have too much of a good thing. And, having been to Sedona, I can honestly say that, because it’s so popular with tourists, the place can feel definitely ‘dirty’ or at least mixed up. Not surprising if you think of all the emotional junk people bring with them!! Is there one in your environment?A place like Sedona is powerful on many levels. Yet you can have a vortex on your property and it can be a cleansing thing. However, it would normally take a focused effort and the construction of something like a labyrinth or stone circle to help put enough charge into the natural energies and encourage them to form a vortex.Even if you don’t have one or can’t create one on your property, then you should at least visit one to experience what the fuss is about. Go to Sedona, or visit Glastonbury in the UK or use your dowsing ability to locate the nearest one to you. There are many, some quite small and some only appearing for a few hours. Because they are swirling energies, they also alter in strength and spin according to the moon phases and other factors, so you might like to check for the effect they might have on you. The experience inside one can be quite refreshing, but you have to be in the right frame of mind to benefit from it. It’s no use at all going to one thinking ‘Huh! This is going to be a waste of time.’ As with everything else about the environment, take your time and listen to your body and how you feel about the place. Once you get that right, then you are well on your way to becoming much more sensitive to everything else which needs adjusting around you. In other words, a vortex can be just a way of starting out on your journey of experiencing the world as it is! Back to Sacred Spaces Page Back to Home Page from Vortex Page
