Create Your Own Sacred Space
A sacred space can be yours if you want it, without too much difficulty. You just have to be aware of some basic aspects.
Isn’t it to do with churches?Actually, no. A sacred space is simply a place which is revered, or has limited access (for ritual or religious purposes), or is set apart from the ordinary, everyday world in some fashion. Some people approach such places with dread or fascination. They are different places with a different feel to them. They don’t have the same feel as your kitchen, for example! Therefore, you can see that they don’t have to do just with churches. They can be anywhere; out in nature, a building specifically designed as such, or just as part of a building; a room perhaps.
Examples Some people have reported that stone circles, like Stonehenge for example, are very special for them. This is because they experienced a different quality, a different feeling in some of them. For others, the obvious sacred sites such as Chartres Cathedral in France, Glastonbury in England, Machu Picchu in Peru and Ayers Rock in Australia all give people the same sorts of feelings. In other words, they can be vastly different yet all share the same thing; the ability to arouse in people certain feelings; of fascination, of completeness, of quiet, of a connection with something greater than themselves. You'll notice that a number of sacred sites are also very popular places. Think there's a connection somewhere? One of the main features of a the megalithic sites are the standing stones. You might be surprised at what something as simple as standing stones can do for you and your environment! Why have your own?You might want to create a space just for your own use because you wish to use it to meditate, or to simply sit and let the cares of the world slip away. Perhaps you want a haven of peace and quiet which is YOURS and yours alone where you can focus on doing some activity important to you in some fashion. Some people want a shrine where a person or an event can be remembered and re-connected with on a regular basis.Perhaps the most important reason for having such a place would be to act as a place where you can not be affected by the earth energies and other discordant energies. Sort of like a place of refuge. In other words, there are many reasons for having a sacred space.
Anything to look out for? Having a clear intention is important, as is harmonizing all the various aspects of the environment. This is where geomancy can help greatly. Some places, such as Sedona in Arizona, have what are called vortexes (or vortices) where, according to some, the energies of the earth spin and allow you to experience an altered state. You might not be lucky enough to have your own naturally occurring vortex, but you can still create something special for yourself.
An important note! With the pace of life today and with the various earth changes taking place, it really important that you create your own sacred space. It will give you a place to recharge your batteries and to allow you disconnect from the world. Such places are going to become more and valuable. Such sacred spaces are also going to be able you maintain your health and well-being better. Create yours today! If you don't know how, then ask us!
