What are elementals
and what do they do?

Elementals can help you a great deal, if you know about them and you let them! It’s just that you probably have never thought about them or considered talking to them.

Is it anything to do with chemistry or science?

No! Absolutely nothing at all. In fact, if you told a scientist about these, it wouldn’t go down so well. And the reason for that is that these elementals are not generally known about.

According to who you talk to, you might find that it means one thing to one person and another thing to another. Here, we are going to talk about a wider variety of beings than most others will cover, simply because it is a useful term. They are usually referred to by other names.

If you told your scientist friend that you were going to talk with devas, it might not mean much. But what if you said, “I’m just off to talk with the faeries”. You can see the face already, can’t you? Talk about strange!

Yet those are two terms which we will use when talking about this group of beings.

The origins of the word

Back in the 1500’s, the term originally meant the beings responsible for the building blocks of the world as it was thought be constructed then. Earth, air, fire and water were the basic elements. So, for each element there was a being associated with it.

However, as the years have passed, so the numbers and types of beings associated with the term have become more numerous.

Who’s in the list?

Well, for the purposes of this page, let’s add in devas, and faeries (and, if you like, all the associated beings like goblins, elves, sprites etc.).

But let’s not have angels and demons in the list because those are a special class altogether.

Basically, the beings in this group are those who have some special task or role to play in the world. Simply, they are either those who have and make the plans, or those who carry them out. Devas tend to have the plans of how things should be, while faeries carry them out.

Are you saying they’re real?

In a way, yes! In fact, Maggie and I work with them when necessary. And, yes, we do talk with them and it helps a great deal. Sometimes when we clear a property, we need to invite more of them in to help heal the land.

(By the way, you don't have to believe in them. We do and we work with them.)

Elementals and nature spirits are just as real as you want them to be. Thinking they don’t exist doesn’t make them go away. Even if you have problems with the concept of nature spirits, then just focusing on what they do can bring you into a closer appreciation and understanding of the natural world.

You don’t ever have to see an elemental to appreciate the complexity of what they do.
