Dowsing:
The Skill You Need!
A type of divination, dowsing is a very simple skill. It allows you
to investigate aspects of your environment which would otherwise be
very difficult to do.
Dowsing is usually listed as a psychic ability, but we regard it as
a natural one. In fact, we believe all "psychic" talents are
natural. For more on psychic abilities, visit our website on this subject.
Assessing earth energies (as well as other types of energies) in our
work in this way is an important part of what we do. It is immensely
useful for us in finding out what is going on.
We also use it to decide which course of action will give the best
results and to determine whether or not the ‘fix’ has worked or whether
something else needs doing.
And the beauty of it is that, once you learn
to dowse, you can do it on location or be on the other side of the
world and it doesn’t matter.
How does it work?
This is always a good question, because nobody really knows the
answer! You will find people giving you explanations which they say are
the true answers, but they really are only possible answers. Who knows?
They might have the one true answer, but, right now, we don’t know for
sure. Let’s just look at some of the possible explanations. It
works because....
The
universe is a hologram and we can find all the answers everywhere
in anything we look at.
- We get the answers from our guides and helpers (angels, maybe, or
ascended masters or something similar).
- The pendulum (or other tool) moves because we are extremely sensitive
to changes in electrical and magnetic fields and that make us make
small movements in our arms.
- The pendulum (or other tool) helps us to ‘tune in’ to our subconscious
(or our superconscious) mind which has all the answers we need. (See
the first explanation.)
- Because of Bell’s Theorem of non-locality in quantum physics, everything
is connected with everything else, so it’s just a matter of tuning
in to something to get an answer to anything. (Again, a lot like the
first explanation.)
Take your pick, or make your own reason up. It’s immaterial, as long as
it works!
Is it a fraud?
You are, of course, going to have people saying this. It’s only natural
if you can do something but can’t explain how you do it. Skeptics are
part of the world. It would only be a fraud if it was used to take money
from people and give them nothing in return.
The way that many skeptics have had their viewpoint changed is by discovering
that they, too, can dowse. It is such a simple skill that it often takes
people by surprise!
However, perhaps the best response to this question is by offering
examples of businesses who hire dowsers (or have them on their payroll).
They wouldn't waste money otherwise.
So you have oil companies, diamond mines, the British Army (and many
other armies as well), and chemical companies who all use this skill
to help them.
What do you need to dowse?
To begin with, very few things indeed. Then, as you get better, you can
do away with most of those, if you so wish.
To begin you need:
- A tool: usually a pendulum, l-rod or bobber
- An open mind
And that’s about it!
What about the tools?

A pendulum is the most popular tool around. You can pay lots of money
for one, or you can use any sort of weight on the end of a length of string,
chain, or even dental floss!
L-rods are also popular tools. They can be of any metal, shaped into
a ‘L’ (hence the name). You can make them from wire coat-hangers, thick
wire of any kind, or anything else that lends itself to being bent into
that shape. They work by being held with the long part almost horizontal
to the ground, and they cross as they turn in, or they both move to
the outside (swinging away).
Bobbers are sort of in between pendulums and L-rods and less popular
tools. Here, the idea is that there is a length of material which has
some flexibility with a weight at the end of it. Many bobbers have a
length of thin copper wire with a weight or bead at the end, although
they can be made cheaply from speedometer cable jammed into a handle!
The bobber works by bobbing up and down or waving to and fro or going
in circles (according to preference).
Learning to use them is a matter of practice. Many books have clear
instructions on how to start, particularly with the first two tools.
If you want to learn this amazingly useful skill for yourself, follow this
link to an ebook we've written.
Although there are a myriad ways of using this skill, here we only
emphasize that you can use it to confirm
or deny if you have any negative energies in your environment, and
whether
or not you would benefit from geomancy.
